
Lisa is a seasoned healthcare and campus public safety executive. She began her career as a police lieutenant at NC State, then founded and led WakeMed’s Campus Police & Public Safety for 22 years. She later served as Chief of Police at Eastern Virginia Medical School and as Director of Hospitals Police, Security & Transportation at UNC Chapel Hill. Most recently, she held leadership roles as Vice President of Healthcare for a major contract security firm and Chief Development Officer for a conflict-management training organization. At WakeMed, she expanded services from the Level I trauma center to nine facilities, and at UNC Hospitals, she guided the team to earn the IAHSS Lindberg Bell Award. Recognized as Campus Safety Magazine’s Healthcare Security Director of the Year, she is the author of Preventing Violence in the Emergency Department and The Active Shooter Response Toolkit for Healthcare Workers. Her latest book, Into the Breach: Leading Amid Chaos, reflects her extensive experience in advancing safety and leadership in healthcare.
