Corporate Security Risk Assessment and Enterprise Technology Implementation

A large, multi-state healthcare and insurance organization engaged Security Risk Management Consultants (SRMC) to conduct a comprehensive risk and vulnerability assessment of its corporate headquarters and several regional facilities across the Midwest. The organization sought an independent evaluation of its existing security posture to better understand current risks, identify gaps, and establish a roadmap for strengthening physical security across its enterprise portfolio. The engagement encompassed the organization’s primary corporate headquarters, additional administrative offices, and a mission-critical data center environment.

The initial assessment focused on evaluating existing security technologies as well as the policies and procedures that governed daily operations and incident response. The findings from this assessment were intended to inform both immediate enhancements and longer-term capital investments aligned with the organization’s growth and evolving operational requirements.

Our Approach

SRMC began the engagement with a detailed risk and vulnerability assessment of each facility, reviewing existing access control, video surveillance, and related security technologies, along with supporting policies, procedures, and operational practices. This holistic review provided a clear understanding of how people, processes, and technology intersected across multiple locations and varying facility types.
Following completion of the assessment, SRMC was retained on multiple subsequent engagements to translate strategic recommendations into fully executable security solutions. These services included detailed system design, development of technical specifications and construction drawings, stakeholder coordination and negotiations, bid administration, construction management support, and system testing and commissioning. SRMC worked closely with architectural and construction partners to ensure security systems were seamlessly integrated into both renovated and newly constructed facilities, while maintaining consistency with enterprise security standards.

A central design principle throughout the program was the development of a standardized, centrally managed security architecture. All access control and video surveillance systems were designed to be monitored and managed from the corporate headquarters, providing enhanced situational awareness, operational efficiency, and consistency across the organization’s real estate portfolio.

Results

The engagement resulted in the successful modernization and expansion of the organization’s physical security program across multiple facilities and project types. SRMC supported security system implementation for a major renovation of the corporate headquarters, a new headquarters expansion tower, a newly constructed regional office and call center, a Tier III data center, and multiple existing remote facilities. Each project was delivered with security systems tailored to the specific operational, architectural, and risk profiles of the facility while adhering to enterprise-wide standards.

The centralized monitoring and management model improved oversight, reduced redundancy, and strengthened incident response capabilities. Through careful coordination with design and construction teams, security systems were delivered on schedule and aligned with broader project goals, ensuring that security considerations were integrated early and effectively into each project lifecycle.

Conclusion

Through this multi-phase engagement, SRMC provided both strategic guidance and hands-on implementation support, enabling the organization to move from a baseline assessment to a fully integrated, enterprise-level security program. The combination of risk assessment, master planning, and detailed design and delivery positioned the organization to better protect its people, assets, and critical operations while supporting future growth. The result was a scalable, centrally managed security infrastructure that enhanced resilience, improved operational efficiency, and aligned physical security with organizational objectives.
