Daniel B. Yaross, MSM, CPP, CHPA, CPTED-Practitioner

Dan is a staff consultant.  He has been in the security field for over 25 years after a successful career in United States Army, where he retired as a Major.  He holds a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from The Ohio State University and a master’s degree in Management from Troy State University.  He is a Certified Protection Professional (CPP), and a Certified Healthcare Protection Administrator (CHPA), and he carries the Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) Practitioner designation, having received his designation through Florida Atlantic University, School of Architecture.

Dan’s professional experience includes 18 years with the United States Army, 11 years with Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, and 10 years as the Security Director for Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.

Under Dan’s leadership, the Nationwide Children’s Protective Services Department more than doubled in size, expanded its services to the hospital community, became a highly collaborative partner of the healthcare team, and developed one of the best hospital security programs in the nation.  The department won the coveted IAHSS “Lindberg Bell” Award for the most advanced healthcare security department.

Dan has been actively involved with both IAHSS and ASIS International for many years, serving in numerous volunteer leadership positions.
