Brian Johnson CPP, PCI, CPTED Practitioner

Brian is a staff consultant. He served in various roles including communication, patrol, investigative, and administrative roles in Law Enforcement for almost 30 years. In his transition to the corporate sector, he leveraged his public safety and technology background to establish a GSOC for a major US retailer.  He also managed the behavioral threat assessment team including any workplace violence investigations and provided training to all employees.

Brian holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Worcester State University where he also minored in Communications.

Brian’s professional experience includes 29 years with the Franklin, Massachusetts police department. Highly experienced in investigative, patrol, and technology programs, he proposed and implemented numerous enhancements to the Department’s use of technology to enhance officer’s safety, and ability to access information. Some of his projects included transition from on-premises records management systems to a SaaS platform, and design and deployment of a complete upgrade to the Department’s radio system including fiber optic backhaul, and P25 compliance.

During his time in the Department, he also served as the agency’s Public Information Officer. His responsibilities included working within the Boston media market. He regularly appeared on television news and other media to provide information to the public and increase department transparency to build community trust.

Brian was honored for his service to the Town of Franklin with proclamations by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts State Senate, and House of Representatives. During his career he also received commendations from the Massachusetts State Police for training he delivered to Troopers on new records management systems, and from numerous agencies for his assistance with multi-jurisdictional investigations and rapidly developing critical incidents.

Making the transition from the public sector to corporate allowed me to learn more about the challenges that private organizations face. I enjoy using my experience from being on the front line of critical incidents, and from my time working in the corporate environment to help spot problems before they happen and working collaboratively with others to mitigate risk and prepare responses for unfolding crisis incidents.
